The Energy Community Secretariat, on behalf of the Energy Strategy Task Force, has   published the Invitation for submission of Projects of Energy Community Interest (PECIs), in electricity, gas and oil sectors.

On 18 October 2012, the Energy Community Ministerial Council endorsed the Regional Energy Strategy with the aim of harmonizing the existing national strategies and plans within the Energy Community. The vast investment needs in energy infrastructure was one of the underlying reasons for the preparation of the Energy Strategy.

Interested project promoters of electricity generation and transmission projects, gas transmission and storage projects as well as oil transport and storage facilities for oil projects are invited to submit information on their projects to the Energy Community Secretariat no later than 10 December 2012.

The previous deadline for submission of information (10 December 2012) has been extended to 31 December 2012.

These are projects that foster the market integration and opening, security and continuity of supply. It is foreseen that in parallel with the implementation of PECIs during 2013 adequate policy and regulatory measures be adopted with the provision of technical support and funding mechanisms.

In accordance with the similar approach used in the European Union, the Projects of Energy Community Interest will be identified based on the methodology to be developed for the Task Force by an independent consultant that will also be in charge of providing support for the realization of the identified projects.

The projects shall be submitted in English using the questionnaires available on the Energy Community web site.
